Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her Cannes visit, is a hot
topic of discussion, every year. The actress is scanned left, right and
center, for her fashion choices at the film extravaganza. While she
manages to impress fashion gurus sometimes, Ash fails miserably, at
times. This year was no exception.
Aishwarya made a grand entry in a gold gown on the
first day of the film festival this year. However, her following
appearances only disappointed her fans and style gurus, with ‘the purple
lipstick’ being the biggest shock to everyone. Aishwarya faced flak
from everyone as she sported the unusual lip colour that did no good to
her.
As the actress returned home, she chose to break her
silence on the much-debated topic saying that sporting a purple lipstick
at Cannes was a call taken by a cosmetic brand that she endorses, and
not her. While her statement almost closed the chapter, actress Sonam
Kapoor has now expressed her views on the issue.
Sonam, who has also been a constant at Cannes for some
time now, has made a shocking statement about Aishwarya’s ‘purple lips’.
Her #nofilter statement, which might not go down well with many, has
only left us wondering how Aishwarya will react to it.
Talking about the Aishwarya's purple lipstick at
Cannes, Sonam said, “The whole idea of fashion and make-up is for people
to discuss it and I guess she wanted to be discussed. She achieved what
she wanted to achieve with it, which I think is great. I don’t think
she walked for L’Oreal that day. There was an Amul ad on it, people were
discussing it. She was trending everywhere. I have done purple lipstick
in the past, I have even done black for a shoot… People haven’t spoken
about me!”
This is not for the first time that Sonam has taken a
dig at Ash. She shocked all when she openly referred to Aishwarya as
'aunty', in 2009.  The catfight began when Sonam was appointed as the
young face of a cosmetic brand that Aishwarya already endorsed. After
much hue and cry, Sonam tried to come out clean by saying, “I have been
misquoted.”
And now with Sonam being at it yet again, we see the old cat fight coming back to life!
