You will not believe that these seven actors were NOT the first choice for (perhaps) your favourite films!
1) Chalte Chalte
Here's something that a lot of people don't know about
this hit film: Rani Mukherjee was the first choice for the role, which
she turned down because of other commitments. Aishwarya Rai then
replaced her, but had to leave the film since Salman Khan, her bitter
ex, would often wreak havoc on the sets. Eventually, it was Rani who
played the role, as was intended by the filmmakers.
2) Munnabhai MBBS
Shahrukh Khan was the first choice of the filmmakers
for the role of Munnabhai. In fact, he was even signed onto the film
when he decided to turn it down because of his back problems. Guess who
Sanjay Dutt was cast as? Zaheer, who was eventually played by Jimmy
Shergill.
3) Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai
Hrithik Roshan was supposed to sing Kaho Naa Pyaar
Hai' to Kareena Kapoor, instead of Amisha Patel! But in an
extremely disappointing display of unprofessional behaviour, Kareena
walked out of the film after shooting for a few days. Lucky for Ameesha
Patel, she became a huge star post the success of the film.
4) Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
Can you imagine Aamir Khan as the most romantic hero of
Bollywood? Well, neither can we! Aamir was approached for DDLJ but he
ended up turning it down, making Shahrukh Khan the King of Romance and
setting him on the road to great success in the industry.
5) Chak De! India
Salman Khan's creative differences with the
director resulted in him not playing the role of Kabir Khan, in the
film. Ironically enough, the role was in fact written keeping Salman
Khan in mind. But as Shahrukh's luck would have it, the role came to him
and it is one of his most memorable films till date. Gone in Sattar
Minute, Salman?
6) Kal Ho Na Ho
Naina was never supposed to be played by Preity Zinta!
Kareena Kapoor was the first choice for the film, but she allegedly
turned down the role because the producers did not agree on her fee. All
said and done, Preity was the perfect ‘Pretty Woman’ for the film!
7) Heroine
Unlike before, Kareena Kapoor wasn't the first
choice for the film, this time around. Instead, Aishwarya Rai was
supposed to play the role and director Madhur Bhandarkar even went on to
say, Aishwarya was a perfect choice for the role. In fact, no one
could’ve played it better. Aishwarya dropped out of the film because of
her pregnancy and it eventually went to Kareena Kapoor, who nailed the
role.
Well, you only get what’s destined for you. Ciao!
